Kit Smethurst Another great single from the vastly underrated Flights of Helios. This follows on nicely from their last release "Factory" and has the same feeling of maudlin darkness. Essential listening.

Wandering rocks from where sirens call us But I never left those waves ‘cause the waves made Venus And in the stale moonlight You seem so right dear succubus And in the neon strip Wings seem clipped and your lips a must Streetlight covers head to toe But we’ve nowhere to go In this post-watershed haze Heavy breathing and eyes glazed Illuminated in the hotel lobby Starlit strumpet and lovers’ delight Hot as the witch’s hammer So familiar the familiar Candle flicker toe to head The smell of lust with a hint of dread Yellow bird and the sweetest tone Through every nerve to the bone Wandering rocks from where sirens call us But I never left those waves ‘cause the waves made Venus To lie upon, to lie beneath, to lie a lie

about

Succubus was inspired by folk myths from various traditions, and the kind of corrosive obsession that only leads to catastrophe.

credits

released October 31, 2014

Succubus produced and mixed with Richard Neuberg at Strawhouse Studios, Oxfordshire. Mastered by Tim Turan.

Palemoonlight produced by Sebastian Reynolds and mastered to cassette tape by Ben Thomas (L'Etranger).

The striking artwork for Succubus is based on an image produced from a synesthesiac system of mapping the sound frequencies of the track to the visible colours of the light spectrum by renowned physicist Ben Outram. Graphics formatted and typset by Greg Orrom Swan.
